Written with due concern to the emerging requirements of students and academicians associated with the subject of control system, this book is going to serve the purpose, thereby acquainting the readers with solutions to many complicacies explained in quite an easy and comprehensive way. Its text designed for undergraduate course in control system for engineering students in Indian universities has numerical examples to clearly understand the theoretical topics. The step-wise methods given therein help to sketch the complicated graphs, plots and diagrams.

Consisting of 12 chapters, its Chapter 1 explains the basics of control system and Laplace transform a useful mathematical tool for the study of the subject. Chapters 2, 3 and 4 introduce the basic concept of transfer function, impulse response, control system components, block diagram representation and signal flow graph. Chapter 5 contains the time response analysis and design specifications, while Chapter 6 introduces the concept of stability and Routh-Hurwitz criterion. Chapter 7 has the elucidation on root locus and root contours concept. Frequency response analysis and stability analysis in frequency domain are explained in Chapter 8 and 9 respectively. Classical control design technique has been explained in Chapter 10. State space techniques and analysis of nonlinear systems are dealt in Chapter 11 and 12, respectively.

Appendix 1 at the end of the chapters have review questions that will be of immense help to students in judging themselves and finding solutions to these problems. On the other hand, the multiple type objective questions given in Appendix 2 are of huge value for the students preparing for competitive examinations. These questions, which have been collected from previous years' examination papers of GATE, I.E.S or equivalent standard and other universities become a big help for the students facing the competitive exams.
