The book Foreign Trade Finance and Documentation contains five chapters. The first chapter explains the evolution of India's foreign trade and presents a clear picture of exports and imports both in the Pre-Independence and Post-Independence period including eleventh five year plan period.
The second chapter "Financing of Foreign Trade" throws light on terms of payment, packing credit and its formalities, channels of export finance, and post-shipment finance.
Export promotion and Export Incentives are the subject-matter of the third chapter. Duty drawback, duty exemption scheme, excise rebate, export-oriented units, export house, cash compensatory support, etc., are enumerated in this chapter.
Chapter four refers to commodity terms of trade, Gross Barter terms of trade, Income terms of trade, Single Factoral terms of trade, Double Factoral terms of trade, Real Cost terms of trade and Utility terms of trade. The reasons for the unfavourable terms of trade and types of terms of contract like Ex-Work, FCA, FAS, FOB, CFR, CIFCPT, CIP, DAF, DES, DEQ, and other terms used in international trade, and trade related documents are explained in simple language.
