Goyal Brothers A Textbook of Applied Mathematics for Class 12 (Vol - 1)
CBSE has introduced one more elective course for Senior Secondary Classes, named as Applied Mathematics, from the academic session 2020-21. This course is mainly for the students of Arts and Commerce streams. Now, the obvious question arises: What is this Applied Mathematics all about? How is it different from the Core Mathematics (Mathematics meant for Science subjects)?
In fact, Applied Mathematics involves the application of mathematical methods to solve problems in various fields such as Commerce, Economics, Business, Medicines, Social Sciences, Computer Science, etc. In other words, Applied Mathematics is a combination of mathematical methods and specialised knowledge. It is the application of mathematics to real-world problems.
The difference between Core Mathematics and Applied Mathematics is that the former's main objective is to solve the problems for the sake of mathematics, while the later is used to solve real-world problems. In other words, Core Mathematics is fully abstract-thinking course, and Applied Mathematics is based on the application of Mathematical knowledge in real life and another discipline too. But, these two branches are made for each other. As per the CBSE, the main objectives of Applied Mathematics at Senior Secondary Classes
