- Authored by Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha is a book which tells about the journey of Siddhartha, a young man who decides to leave his wife and kids and embark on a journey of suffering and rejection to finally find peace within and attain salvation.
- The backdrop is set during the time of Gautam Buddha in India. Siddhartha is born in a Brahmin family and is married and has a child. As years pass by he becomes restless and is sickened by lust and greed all around him. He decides that he will leave his home and hopes to gain spiritual illumination in his journey.
- He is also joined by his best friend Govinda. During his journey, he renounces all his personal possessions, meditates and even meets the famous Gautam Buddha in person. Every action and event during the journey gives Siddharta an enlightenment and leads him to understanding.
- Siddhartha was published in 2012 by Ramesh Publishing House and is available in paperback. A film entitled Siddhartha was also released in 1972 starring Shashi Kapoor.
