This series 'Excellence in Social Studies' has been prepared on the basis of the National Education Policy (NEP). It emphasizes on the self-learning and interacting with the existing environment which would help the students in broadening their horizon of knowledge and understanding. We have made comprehensive researches to understand the need of the students. This series aims at the development of an understanding of the social and cultural environment. It deals with the relationship of human beings and his elements. Every concept of the book is completely based on CCE Pattern. Under the CCE Pattern, formative and summative assessments have been incorporated in the text and exercise questions. In the end of each chapter, we have incorporated an appraisal column under different headings such as; fact file, quickies, let us revise, exercise for summative assessment, exercise for formative assessment, high order thinking skills (HOTS) and the life skills.
