"The relevance of Premchand's stories is boundless by time. All stories of Premchand are special. None of them is meaningless. The Indian culture gets portrayed very lustrously in them. The reader gets tied down with the glimpses of reality and one can feel the pulse of the characters very clearly in their difficulties and dealings. His linguistic style and coverage of issues are so natural and absorbing that the stories stand apart. His characters are all here and real. They are the very same that live on this earth and are endowed with the same common feelings/nature/character such as good virtues, evil traits, cleverness, selfishness, selflessness, humility etc. Every creation relates so well to the reader that it becomes great. There is abundant literature available about this great author but every collection has a different viewpoint and therefore, serves a different purpose. This collection has been brought out with the hope that these great stories too will evoke different kinds of interests in ordinary readers and young students"
