It is a collection of Sanskrit fables in prose & verse written in 12th century. It is believed to be an independent treatment of the famous fables of Panchtantra. It is meant as an exposition of statecraft, the conduct of war & peace & the development of allies and was produced in a format easily understandable for young Princes. It has been derived from two words and means to counsel or advice with benevolence. The purpose of creating is to instruct young mind in a way that they learn the philosophy of life & are able to grow into responsible adults.
