E-banking is a blanket term used to indicate a process through which a customer is allowed to carry out, personal or commercial banking transactions using electronic and telecommunication network. Radical changes have been happened in the modern Indian banking sector from 1991, after the introduction of new economic policies by the Narasimha Rao Government.

The Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization (LPG) policies opened up a new horizon of opportunities to foreign and new generation banks with a dome of new knowledge coupled with a gamut of transform in strategy plan. Technology in the banks is currently graded to a lofty level of advancement in the world. The gap flanked by the Indian banks and banks in the industrially advanced countries are slowly vanishing. The information and technological uprising in the world has fingered every part of public life together with banking.
